Do’s & Dont's
-
Be prepared. Please have cash fare or Go Card in hand before boarding and place it in the fare box before finding a seat.
-
Food and drink are not permitted on any GRTC bus.
-
GRTC is a smoke-free environment. This includes carrying a lit cigarette, pipe, matches, or lighter.
-
No spitting.
-
Please be respectful of others. Disturbing passengers or bus operators by engaging in loud, unruly behavior is not permitted. This includes unwanted touching of individuals, use of foul language, verbal, racist, or sexual harassment.
-
Help keep GRTC clean! Please dispose of all trash in designated receptacles and not out of bus windows or on the floor.
-
When listening to tapes, radios, CD players, or other audio devices, please use earphones with the volume set at levels that do not disturb fellow passengers.
-
Report vandalism. Defacing GRTC bus property is strictly forbidden by law.
-
Please keep personal belongings on your lap or at your feet. Blocking aisles and using additional seat space for carry-on items is not permitted.
-
Respect fire safety. Firearms, flammable liquid, explosives, acid, or other harmful materials are not permitted onboard.
-
The safety of our passengers is very important. Please report any suspicious items or activity to your bus operator immediately. Remember, transit safety is everyone’s responsibility.
While You Wait
-
Our goal is to be on time; we hope you agree. Arrive at your bus stop approximately 5 minutes before your bus is scheduled for pick-up helps to ensure you will not miss your bus.
-
Please stay in bus shelters or on the sidewalk while waiting for the bus. Under no circumstances should you wait in the street at your bus approaches.
-
Please be patient. Operators will open bus doors once the bus has come to a complete stop.
As You Board
-
Please wait until exiting passengers have stepped off the bus before boarding. Take extra precaution while boarding by using handrails for assistance. Bus steps and sidewalks may be slippery due to rain or snow. Please have your Go Card or cash fare (in exact change) in hand to keep the bus running on time. Please place your bus fare in the fare box or insert your Go Card before finding a seat.
Take A Seat
-
Please do not hesitate in locating your seat.
-
Please respect priority seats. Priority seats, located at the front of every bus, are reserved for senior and disabled riders.
-
Standing on the bus steps while the bus is in motion is not permitted.
-
Please remain seated until the bus comes to a complete stop.
As You Exit
-
Please check your belongings and the seat around you once the bus has come to a complete stop. GRTC is not responsible for any items or articles left on the bus.
-
Take extra precaution while exiting by using handrails for assistance. Bus steps and sidewalks may be slippery due to weather conditions.
-
Please do not step between the bus and the curb when exiting the bus.
-
To avoid serious injury, step away from the bus and never cross the street in front of the bus.
-
Drop something? Do not pick it up until the bus has safely pulled away.
Play it Safe
-
Please remember bus steps and sidewalks become slippery from rain and snow. Use handrails for assistance when boarding or exiting.
-
GRTC is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
-
Passengers are not permitted to extend hands, arms, heads, or objects of any kind from the windows of the bus while the bus is in motion or stopped.
-
In the event of an emergency, please follow emergency instructions from your GRTC operator.
