GRTC to Continue Zero Fare Next Fiscal Year

RICHMOND, VA — The Greater Richmond Transit Company is pleased to share that Zero Fare service will continue through Fiscal Year 2026, according to the agency’s draft budget. While the GRTC Board of Directors has not yet formally adopted the FY26 budget, current funding sources support the continuation of Zero Fare. “Zero Fare has transformed the way people move throughout our region,” said Sheryl Adams, CEO of GRTC. “This program removes barriers, expands access to opportunity, and directly supports our core mission: providing equitable, reliable transit for all. We’re proud of the positive impact it’s had on our riders and our community.” To help sustain the effort beyond FY26, GRTC is actively advancing new initiatives, including the Transit Access Partnership (TAP) and an expanded advertising program.
