Stone Brewing:
On Williamsburg Avenue around the corner from this GRTC Pulse station is Stone Brewing, one of the largest craft breweries in the United States. Founded in 1996 in San Marcos, Calif., as a two-man microbrewery, Stone has become so well-respected that it’s been named the “All-Time Top Brewery on Planet Earth” multiple times by readers of BeerAdvocate magazine. Attracted by Richmond’s “vibrant energy and impressive craft beer culture,” Stone selected Richmond from among 40 cities as the location for its new east-coast operations. The Stone Brewing Tap Room – Richmond, which opened in 2016, offers sales of year-round, special and one-time beer releases and branded merchandise. Brewery tours are available daily to adults and youth for a nominal fee, and include an optional adults-only guided tasting. Each tour is limited to 25 people, so arriving early is encouraged, especially on weekends and holidays. (4300 Williamsburg Ave., 0.2 miles.)
