The Downtown Transfer Station opened to passengers in September of 2023, launching a new era of passenger amenities for Richmond Region transit riders. With real-time destination boards, powered shelters, public wifi, and a variety of seating options, it has never been easier or more comfortable to catch your GRTC bus.
The project, which was constructed using local, state, and federal funds and represents the first off-street home for GRTC’s downtown transfer hub, is an achievement made possible thanks to the City of Richmond Office of Equitable Transit & Mobility, the Department of Rail and Public Transportation, and many more committed supporters of public transit.
