First New GRTC COVID-19 Cases in a Month
16 total cases since March.

RICHMOND, Va. (July 21, 2020) – GRTC was notified Monday afternoon of its first two positive COVID-19 cases in more than five weeks. Employee #15 was last on duty at GRTC on July 10 and has been quarantined from GRTC with mild symptoms. Employee #16 is a contractor for GRTC who was last on duty at GRTC on July 20 and remains quarantined without symptoms. Both employees have no public-facing service functions.

With each positive case, GRTC continues to proactively identify any likely contacts to be notified, quarantined, and tested in accordance with guidance from the Virginia Department of Health. The full list of confirmed cases is available online.

On Friday, July 17, GRTC hosted its third voluntary, on-site, free COVID-19 testing event for staff, conducted by SecureHealth, a regionally owned and operated urgent care provider. Out of 78 employees tested, only Case #16 is positive and asymptomatic. (Case #15 was tested off-site). A fourth on-site testing event is scheduled this Thursday, July 23. On-going and repeated testing will continue to be an important tool to aid in early detection of COVID-19 in the workforce for asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic infections.
