RICHMOND, Va., — From concrete pads to covered shelters, GRTC is continuing the groundwork for a more accessible, rider-friendly future—one bus stop at a time.

The Essential Transit Infrastructure (ETI) project is improving safety, comfort, and accessibility at bus stops across the City of Richmond, Henrico County, and Chesterfield County. This effort is focused on installing new benches, shelters, and ADA-compliant features to better serve riders where they board.

So far, 24 shelters, 53 benches and 45 trash cans have been added to more than 75 stops across the region.

Plans for a dozen more stops are set to begin, with more than 160 stops ready to move on to the approval process.

Now, GRTC is exploring where lighting is most needed at bus stops to improve safety and visibility.

We’d love your input! Is there a bus stop you use—or pass by—that could benefit from better lighting?
