GRTC Transit System is dedicated to making it easier for all of our customers to use our services. All GRTC fixed route buses contain features and equipment that allow riders with disabilities to board, ride, and exit vehicles easily and comfortably. In addition, GRTC also operates its Specialized Transportation services for individuals who require additional assistance when commuting. See below for details.
The entire GRTC Transit System fleet is equipped with wheelchair lifts. Bus operators can provide help to seniors and riders with disabilities who need extra assistance on our fixed route services.
GRTC ultra low-floor “kneeling” buses are designed to accommodate seniors and persons with disabilities riding our fixed routes.
The entire bus floor is designed to be lower, eliminating any steps when boarding. Sophisticated hydraulics allows the operator to bring the entire bus down to the curb for easy walk-on access or ramp extension for wheelchair entry. Wide doors and a generous front aisle width clear the way for easy transportation.
Priority seating for senior citizens and riders with disabilities is available at the front of every GRTC fixed route bus.
GRTC offers a Reduced Fare Program that allows for senior citizens (65 or older), individuals with disabilities and minors (aged 18 or younger) to ride for a reduced fare of 75 cents (except on Express Routes). The fare can be paid in cash or by using a Reduced Fare Pass. A Medicare or Photo ID Card with proof of age must be shown to the bus operator to ride for a reduced fare. One Child 5 years of age or younger rides for FREE when accompanied with a fare-paying passenger. An additional Child 5 years of age or younger can ride for a Reduced Fare with a Photo ID card with proof of age.
To make transit easier for bicyclists, all GRTC buses are equipped with front-mounted bicycle racks so cyclists can load their bicycle onto a bus and catch a ride. The racks are easy to use and can accommodate a wide variety of bike styles, from a child’s version to a fully loaded adult-size bike. This service is provided free of charge for all riders.
