One New GRTC COVID-19 Case
Eight total cases since March; voluntary on-site employee testing events planned.
RICHMOND, Va. (May 31, 2020) – GRTC received confirmation Saturday of its eighth employee case of COVID-19 since March. The employee, a bus Operator, was traced by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) as a likely connection to Case 7. The last time the Operator was on duty was May 27. All identified likely contacts with Cases 7 and 8 are being contacted, quarantined, and tested in accordance with guidance from VDH. The full list of confirmed cases is available online.
GRTC Chief Executive Officer Julie Timm says, “My heart continues to be with our employees currently recovering from COVID-19. I am encouraged that our most recent cases were quickly isolated and wish our affected GRTC Family members a swift and complete recovery. Our quarantine and testing measures to date have successfully limited staff exposure and blocked any outbreaks at GRTC. We are scheduling on-site testing events for staff, which will help us continue to proactively identify and quarantine positive-tested staff members early.”
Voluntary, on-site COVID-19 testing will be conducted by SecureHealth, a regionally owned and operated urgent care provider, with up to 200 tests possible per testing day. All COVID-19 testing, both on-site and elsewhere, continues to be paid for by GRTC on behalf of employees.
