Three GRTC Routes detour this weekend to avoid scheduled road closures for community events. 

Richmond Jazz Festival

What: GRTC Route 78 will detour to avoid street closures for the Richmond Jazz Festival in the Maymont neighborhood. South of Amelia Street, buses will travel on Allen/Carter, using Kansas, Greenville, and Pennsylvania to loop back northbound.  

When: Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11

Carytown Watermelon Festival

What: GRTC Routes 5, 20, and 78 will detour to avoid street closures for the Carytown Watermelon Festival. Cary Street will be closed between Nansemond and Arthur Ashe: Routes 5 and 78 will turn right at Thompson Avenue to head eastbound via Grove Avenue. Route 20 will continue making the stadium loop but will detour around street closures in Carytown. Northbound buses will take Idlewood to Arthur Ashe and resume normal routing at Cary St. Southbound buses will stay on Thompson St and use I-195 to bypass Carytown.
