Service Updates in December: GRTC is preparing service updates for December 2021 that will protect transit services and restore service reliability. This plan will include modest service adjustments to low ridership routes and proposed temporary contracts with mobility service providers to provide late night and early morning on-demand coverage. GRTC is committed to ensuring no passenger is left waiting at a bus stop for a scheduled bus that does not come. Schedules are in development now to balance available staff and vehicles and maximize service coverage for all riders. GRTC will share specific impacts on affected routes as soon as possible, and public timetables will be available online by early December.
Read To Them: Several GRTC employees volunteered this week during Read Aloud To A Child Week to read books to Richmond Public Schools children. From the Lit Limo to the Library, GRTC had so much fun connecting with students!

Have a Safe Halloween! Although GRTC is unable to participate with a bus this year for Trunk-or-Treat in Richmond, we were delighted to donate candy for the kids who will trick-or-treat! Hosted by the Richmond Sheriff’s Office, Trunk or Treat will be on Halloween at 1701 Fairfield Way, Richmond, from 3-5pm. GRTC’s Route 5 serves this location. If you plan to trick-or-treat Sunday night near any GRTC bus routes, please stay alert for traffic, use caution crossing streets, and use a flashlight – we’ll be looking out for you!

Veterans Day: On Thursday, November 11, 2021, GRTC operates a weekday schedule without express service.
Thanksgiving Day: On Thursday, November 25, 2021, GRTC operates a SUNDAY schedule.
Temporary Transfer Plaza Changes Coming Soon! Construction impacts on 9th St. will require Bay changes and shelter removals soon. The Public Safety Building nearby will be demolished, and GRTC will not be able to use existing Bay locations within the work zone. Shelters, benches and trash cans between Clay and Leigh Sts. will be removed, and Bay locations and assignments will change. Details on the new temporary bay locations, routes serving them, and customer seating and trash cans will be available later.
