One New GRTC COVID-19 Case Detected
Currently 14 employees on leave with active COVID-19 cases.
RICHMOND, Va. (December 16, 2020) – GRTC reports one new COVID-19 case among its workforce. Case #39 is the 36th GRTC employee to test positive and was last at GRTC on December 10. The employee has public-facing duties and is in quarantine at home.
Cases 36, 37, and 39 are likely related through close contact with Case 35 just prior to the onset of symptoms. Contact tracing placed all of these individuals into quarantine prior to exhibiting symptoms. This is GRTC’s only cluster in the nine month period of pandemic operations, and it was quickly and completely contained.
There are 14 people currently on leave with COVID-19, all of whom are recovering at home. As positive cases are identified, GRTC proactively notifies, quarantines, and tests for any possible contact. This process is in accordance with guidance provided by the Virginia Department of Health. The full list of confirmed staff and contractor cases is available online.
GRTC continues to host periodic on-site, free COVID-19 testing events for staff. For the most complete and latest GRTC updates during this pandemic, please visit our website.
